Job Title: Radiologic Technologist Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Computed Tomography Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Afternoon Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of CT experience required License: ARRT (CT), BLS required Certifications: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and the advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or registry-eligible Must-Have: - Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards, and behaviors. - Must possess personal qualities such as being self-directed, flexible, and committed to teamwork. - Must demonstrate teamwork, initiative, and willingness to learn. - Must accept and respect diversity without judgment. Description: Under general supervision, specializes in the performance of computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients. May perform general diagnostic radiology examinations. Responsible for explaining examination procedures to patients and preparing patients for the examination. Reviews clinical data on requisitions and performs appropriate examinations. Obtains additional information about patient medical history as necessary. Prepares procedure rooms and regularly replenishes stock such as linens and related supplies. Analyzes anatomical structure of patients, sets up equipment, and performs CT scans. Manually controls the equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied. Administers intravenous contrast media, including utilization of power injectors. Monitors patients for possible reactions as appropriate to the study. Provides immediate care to patients if a reaction occurs. May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for procedures. Ensures adequate supplies are on hand and stored properly. Assists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies. Performs all imaging procedures demonstrating principles of radiation protection. May involve shielding of patients and selecting appropriate equipment settings to reduce dose using ALARA techniques. Resolves any image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into the system. Completes all study indexing including study begin, study end, and study completion in the information system. Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with radiologists before performing studies. Demonstrates on a consistent basis standards of excellence. Performs all documentation in medical records as necessary to support clinical and billing functions. May work in a hospital with a fixed unit or in a mobile unit. May be potentially exposed to radiation if proper precautions are not utilized. May be exposed to high-voltage equipment and potentially contagious patients. Occasionally may lift and/or move equipment or patients in excess of 10 lbs.
