We are a small practice that is privately owned allowing us to bond with our clients and patients. We love our community and provide quality care to pets. Job Summary: As an Assistant, you will support both the veterinarian and technician to help provide excellent medical care to patients. We will rely on you to assist the veterinarian and technicians in examinations and operations. You need the ability to care for pets properly and compassionately. This includes safely, and correctly, restraining dogs and cats to prevent humans from getting injured while keeping the animal safe. Assistants must value the quality of care recommended, and provided, while communicating empathetically and compassionately with clients. You will play an important role in ensuring the smooth running of our facility, learning more about veterinary medicine, and accurately documenting medical records. Assistants also have a crucial responsibility of ensuring a positive work environment in which the practice achieves its goals. Required Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED Previous experience or training/education working in a veterinary facility is required. Required knowledge, skills, and abilities: Friendly, outgoing, and people oriented. Excellent communications skills. Telephone and computer skills are necessary. Can retain information. Must be observant and have attention to details. Typing, spelling, reading, and the ability to follow through with directions are required. Basic math skills. Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques, new treatments, and to accept change as we can not grow without it. Physical Requirements and Expectations: Dependable attendance and punctuality are required. Must be able to lift 40 pounds. This position requires the ability to walk, bend, stand, use stairs, and reach constantly during a minimum 4 hour day. You will be exposed to loud noises, smells, bodily eliminations/ fluids, and zoonotic diseases. Responsibilities: The following is a list of essential job responsibilities.
